Richardson, William J. "Bill"

of Jackson, passed away peacefully on the 28th of January, 2022, at the age of 91 years. Preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Joyce (Horsch). He is survived by his four children, Scott (Julie) Richardson, Guy (Gloria) Richardson, Gale (Scott) Buhler, William (Katrina) Richardson; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special niece Darbye Stewart; many other nieces and nephews; and his cat Boots. Also preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Ovid (Mike) Richardson, brother James, twin-brother Jerome, and sister Mary.

Bill attended Jackson High School and graduated after joining the Navy at 17 years old. He proudly served in the Korean War and for a time, was even assigned to the same ship as his brother Jerry. Upon discharge, he returned to Jackson and worked several jobs until joining the Jackson Fire Department in 1960. He retired after 25 years and moved with Joyce to his beloved Northern Michigan to live on the AuSable River. He worked with the American Legion Post 162 in Luzerne, MI, rising to commander. They returned to Jackson in 2004.

He devotion to his Navy and fireman service was only exceeded by that of helping his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial luncheon is being planned for 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 5th at the American Legion Post on Lansing Ave. A private internment will take place at a later date.
