Warner, William C. "Bill"

Of Jackson, passed away on his 80th birthday, Tuesday, November 15, 2022. He is survived by his four children, William "BJ" (Alayna) Warner, James (Rachel) Warner, Megan (Colby) Andrews, and Josh Warner; and nine grandchildren, Maddisan, Kennadi, Azlynn, Gavin, Mya, Lilah, Cooper, Josie, and Bodhi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Doris Warner of Albion and his sister, Betty Ross.

Bill was born in Ohio on November 15, 1942. He was a graduate of St. John's High School.  He worked for the County of Jackson for 28 1/2 years at the Jackson County Youth Center.

Bill wore many "hats" during his life, but the one he was most proud of was the helmet of a firefighter. He was a firefighter for Blackman Township from 1975-1992 and Summit Township from 1980-2008. During his time in the fire service, Bill was a fire instructor. He was the Secretary of Southern Michigan Firefighter and Fire Chiefs Association and a board member of the fire prevention week at the Westwood Mall.

He was the creator of J-Dart. When observing a fire in Grass Lake in 2016, he noticed firefighters with snacks and beverages and approached members from HART Huron Valley. He decided that there was a need for the same type of organization in Jackson County and at that moment, J-Dart was born thanks to Bill. He tirelessly made J-Dart a priority by being a primary driver of our response vehicle, acting as a Director, arranging public relation and fundraising events, keeping the response vehicle stocked and responding to just about every call and event they had. If J-Dart was involved with anything, Bill was there.

He was also very active in volunteering for the Great Lakes Burn Camp for Kids, Niles Burn Run, and Our Lady of Fatima. Bill was an avid motorcycle rider and President of Wind and Fire Motorcycle Club.

He enjoyed bowling, softball, roller skating, and making dream catchers and stained glass bottle art.

Bill was a proud grandfather to all 9 of his grandchildren, supporting all of their endeavors from sports to academics to their involvements in the arts.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Satheesh Alphonse, SdC officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his parents at Riverside Cemetery in Albion, Michigan.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Wednesday, November 23 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Instead of sending flowers, contributions to Burn Camp, J-Dart, Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

"A special thanks to my boys, BJ and Jim, Kris Adler, and RaeShelle Davis, and the Hospice Home for the care, compassion, help, and comfort during this time."

In true Bill fashion, he was determined to make it to his 80th birthday. You made it, Bill. Happy Heavenly Birthday!
