Clifton (Lees) Wendy Ross
Of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 74. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Terry Clifton; their two children, Andrea and Kevin; ten grandchildren: Courtney (Chris), Benjamin, Devon, Erika (Kevin), Zachary (Carley), Ryan, Kennedi, Raigan, Zoe, and Kendal; and six great-grandchildren: Braxton, Emelina, Isaac, Brynlee, Braelyn, and Braydon. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends. Wendy was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Gloria and Robert Lees, and her brother, Donald "Bud" Lees, along with many other beloved family members and friends. We take comfort in knowing she is embraced by everlasting love.
Born on October 26, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, Wendy was raised in Hillsdale and Jackson, Michigan. She graduated from Northwest High School in 1968. Wendy met Terry as a teenager, and they were married at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Jackson on August 16, 1969. Together, they raised two children: Andrea, born on October 19, 1970, and Kevin, born on January 21, 1975.
Wendy worked as a paraprofessional in the Jackson Public Schools for many years. She is perhaps best known for her career as a custom picture framer, operating her own business, A Frame Above & 180 Chic Boutique, for 19 years. Her love for her hometown and the community was evident through her decades of service to her friends, family, and customers.
After retiring, Wendy and Terry relocated to Portage, Michigan. There, Wendy continued to stay active, starting her own venture, Gloria's Designs, where she created and sold handcrafted handbags at local craft shows. She also worked part-time at Quilt's Plus in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Throughout her life, Wendy was known by many names—Mom, Wendall, Grammie, Gram, Nammie, Mimi, and Nini. Above all, she cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passing on her love for baking, sewing, throwing parties, and instilling a strong work ethic. Wendy demonstrated her love through acts of service, always putting the needs of her family and loved ones first.
Wendy enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, sewing, baking, and sharing stories about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for Christmas, philanthropy, and being surrounded by friends. Despite standing at just 4'11", Wendy's larger-than-life personality and boundless love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew
her.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, September 13 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, Wendy and Terry's wish is for donations to be made toward their youngest grandchild, Kendal's tuition at Queen's of the Miraculous Medal Elementary School.
