Griffin, Wayne
Age 85, passed away suddenly but peacefully, on Friday, September 12, 2025. He was born on February 10, 1940 in Adrian, Michigan to Roy and Alice Griffin. While working multiple jobs, Wayne went back to school and graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Facility Management which he used at different schools and hospitals throughout his career. Wayne was an avid bicyclist who traveled the country in search of adventures and new trails to ride. He recently finished his goal of driving and biking the entire 6,000 plus miles of Route 66. Wayne was a kind, gentle, and generous soul who loved his family and his Church.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Griffin; children, Cindy Griffin, Tim (Angie) Griffin and Steven (Heather) Thelan; grandchildren, Melissa (Will) Bredernitz, Matt Coburn, Kaitlyn Thelan, Josh Griffin and Madeline Griffin; great-grandchildren, Miley Coburn, Nate Coburn, Bo Bredernitz and Landri Bredernitz; brothers, Royal Griffin, Raymond (Mary) Griffin, and Paul (Donna) Griffin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Hoodenpyle Griffin; mom, Alice Griffin, and dad, Roy Griffin.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. A private burial will be held at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens in Tecumseh.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
In lieu of sending flowers, contributions in Wayne's honor can be made to Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church or Mikey & Me Dog Rescue, 465 S. Freer Road, Chelsea, Michigan 48118.
