Waneta was born on February 2, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio. She married Eugene on May 16, 1943. After marriage she lived several years in Toledo, Ohio and Jackson before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1995 she and Eugene moved back to Jackson. While living in both Jackson and Lincoln she was very involved in leading Bible Studies. In Jackson she led the Primary Department of Sunday School at Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years. From 1973-1974, she and Eugene went to Germany with Teen Challenge to work with the GIs there. She loved her family and she loved the Lord.
She was also well known for her sewing abilities. While her daughters were young, she made most of their clothes, including some of their coats. When her daughters got married, she made their wedding dresses, including their veils, along with the dresses for all the bridesmaids.
Once she and Eugene moved back to Jackson, they attended Trinity Wesleyan Church. As a Christian, she was well known as a strong prayer warrior. Many people came and asked her to pray for them, including the workers at Trellis Gardens and Countryside Grand where she lived for several years.
A special thanks to the staff at Countryside Grand, Trellis Gardens and Great Lakes Hospice for their loving care.
A celebration of her life was held at Encounter Church (formerly Trinity Wesleyan Church) on July 6th, at 11:00, with Dave Dankert and Pastor Vaughn Jensen officiating. She is interred at Roseland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Waneta's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
