Waugh (Milley), Vivian Marie
Passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her eight children; Karen (Thomas) Doughty, John (Patricia) Waugh, Christine (Frank) Waugh-Fleischmann, Maribeth (the late Michael) Coulombe, Daniel (Catherine) Waugh, Katherine Schweit, Susan (Robert) Belttari, and Julie (Andrew) Waugh-Svinicki, as well as 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded by her husband, Raymond, and her oldest children, twin boys, Michael and Timothy.
Mrs. Waugh was born in Detroit, Michigan, the only child of French Canadians who immigrated to Detroit in the 1920s, Emma (LaFrance) and Albert E. Milley. She was an active member of Our Lady Gate of Heaven parish and graduated with honors from Immaculata High School where she lettered in softball. Her lifelong love of sports no doubt came from early years memorizing Tiger baseball card statistics with her dad. She attended University of Detroit, worked as a Michigan Bell Telephone Company operator, married a World War II veteran and settled eventually in what is now Dearborn Heights. With her growing family, she moved to Jackson in 1965, where she was an active member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal parish and also devoted 30 years to assuring accurate elections as a precinct inspector. She clerked 22 years at Jacobson's Department Store and tutored children in reading after she retired. A lover of all things art and a skilled artist, she painted even as her health declined.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 1111 Carlton Blvd., Jackson. Father Timothy MacDonald will be the Celebrant. The family will receive friends at the Church before the Mass on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Interment next to her beloved Ray will follow at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery, 403 E. South Street, Jackson.
In lieu of flowers and recognizing how she shared her love through cooking, the family suggests donations to the Jackson Community Food Pantry at 701 Greenwood Ave., Jackson http://www.jcfoods.org
