Cosgrove, Vincent Robert "Bob"
On October 12, 2014, Vincent Robert Cosgrove passed away at age 87. Bob was born Easter Sunday morning April 17, 1927 to Vincent and Grace (Whalen) Cosgrove in Jackson, MI. Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ann Freitag Cosgrove, his parents Vincent and Grace, his sisters Connie (Ed Wilson), Rosemary (Andy Nichols), and Virginia Cosgrove; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Bill McLaury and Bert Maxwell. Bob is survived by his children Susan Guerriero, Maureen, Tim (Patti), and Kathleen; his wonderful grandchildren John Guerriero, Katie Wilkinson (Jason), great granddaughter Anna Grace Wilkinson; Jim Guerriero; "adopted daughter" Donna; numerous special nieces and nephews and their children; and sister-in-law Jean Maxwell.
Bob graduated St. John High School in June of 1945, joined the U.S. Army and served in post war Italy. While in the service, Bob and his fellow classmate, and future wife Ann started a correspondence that developed into a one of a kind Love. They were married on July 29, 1950. Bob is a graduate of Albion College and worked at Consumer's Power until his retirement in 1986.
Bob loved his family, Lumen Christi sporting events, Spartan basketball and football, and the fellowship of the Companions on the Journey Group.
The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday, October 16th at 10:30 am. The Reverend James Shaver will be officiating. Cremation will follow the Funeral Mass.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm with the Rosary Service at 6:00pm. The family will also receive friends at St. John's Church on Thursday from 10 to 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Father Solanus Casey Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207.
A special thank you to the Summit Park Assisted Living staff for all the loving care Bob received during his residency and the caring crew at Marr's Restaurant.
