Chesney, Vera Virginia
Age 91, passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2023 with her family by her side. Vera was born on February 20, 1932, to the late John and Maggie Penchoff. In addition to her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her loving husband Edward J. Chesney who were married for 50 years; two newborn sons, Edward J. Jr., and Alexander; her granddaughter, Chelsea Chesney; her sister Marlene Francis Young.
Vera's survivors include her 4 daughters: Jenny Oister and husband Ronald of Naples, Florida; Maria Leach and husband Danny of Jackson; Teresa Chesney and Merlin of Jackson; Sandy (Cassy) Hurst and husband Charlie of Mirror Lake; and her son Michael and wife Kim of Livonia; her 4 grandchildren: Mike Leach and Kristine, Chris and Konnie Leach, Jennifer Leach, and Matt Chesney and Sara; her 12 great-grandchildren; her brothers Richard Penchoff and wife Cindy and her brother Kenny Penchoff and Theresa.
Vera loved her family dearly and her work as a bartender at Bill Cones & Point East and then as the Dinning Room Supervisor for many years at the Vista Grande Villa. She also loved taking care of her beautiful yard and flowers that was her passion making sure that her yard was the best-looking one on the block.
The family would also like to thank the staff of Countryside Care Center and the staff of Heart to Heart for all of the help and care they provided to Vera during her final days.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Tyler Arens officiating.
The family will receive friends at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Friday, August 4 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
