Age 56, left us too soon on Saturday, June 30, 2018. He is survived by his wife Kathy, married 35 years and the love of his life; beloved children Christine and Luke; parents Richard and Madeline Haynes; siblings Tom (Janice) Haynes, Gary (Delayn) Haynes, Rick Haynes, Denise (Greg) Lotz, Jim (Lisa) Haynes, Mike (Susan) Haynes, Pat (Sandy) Haynes, and Michelle Haynes (Scott Shirk); father-in-law Richard Firestone, mother-in-law Nancy (Elwyn) Ordway; sister-in-law Suzanne (Greg) Brainard. He also leaves 21 nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Tim was born and raised in Jackson where he graduated from Lumen Christi High School in 1980. He attended Michigan State University and Thomas Cooley Law School. After practicing law in Florida and Grand Rapids, he spent the last 12 years of his career with the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

Tim was a devoted family man who dearly loved his wife and children. Approaching life with curiosity and enthusiasm, he had many adventures traveling, camping, horseback riding, snowboarding, hiking, riding his motorcycle and enjoying his love of live music any chance he got. He was known and respected for his sharp mind, quick wit and calm demeanor, and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and coworkers. Tim was a grateful and treasured member of Alcoholics Anonymous in Grand Rapids and in Lansing. He touched the lives of many in recovery, and will be dearly missed by his home groups and the recovering community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. Fr. Timothy MacDonald will be the celebrant.

The family will receive friends at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church from 11:00 to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 4.

Instead of flowers, the family requests his generous spirit be honored with a donation to Lansing Central AA, 1915 E. Michigan Ave. Suite D, Lansing, Michigan 48912 in Tim's name or Leelanau Conservancy, http://leelanauconservancy.org/

An additional Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
