Thomas John Treciak (born June 15, 1943, Jackson, Michigan — died March 20, 2026 Jackson, Michigan) lived in Jackson his entire life. A 1961 graduate of Jackson High School, he was an All State football player for the Vikings and captain of the track team. Tom was named for one of his father’s many brothers; his family immigrated from Eastern Europe at the turn of the century.
Predeceased by his parents, Virginia Eileen (Smith) Treciak and Stanley Walter Treciak; his brother James Stanley Treciak; his sister Jean Louise Treciak; his sister in law Carole Sue (Cox) Treciak and good friend Regina Dunn. He is survived by his nieces Kathleen VanDam (Edward) of Chicago, Suzanne Treciak, of Ann Arbor and Constance Greene (John) of Chicago, and by his great nieces Caroline Patricia VanDam and Kate Carole Greene, both of Chicago.
After high school he followed his older brother into civil service, taking a summer job at the U.S. Postal Service. Unlike his attorney brother, he remained a civil servant for his entire career. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam era and remained proud of his service.
In retirement he was a regular at the Jackson Harness Raceway and enjoyed weekly bets with friends and family. He shared a close relationship with his friend Regina and with his brother Jim, often swapping jokes and stories over a beer. A lover of history and geopolitics, he will be remembered as a loving uncle — a straightforward, tough character who never minced words.
“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for he that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother
