Thomas J. Horrigan
age 86, of Jackson, Michigan, died on Friday, December 22, 2017 under the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Care, at Countryside Manor. Thomas suffered a brief battle with lung cancer. Thomas was born October 13, 1931. He was the son of John and Gertrude (O'Rourke) Horrigan. Tom was a 43 year member and mentor of the local Alcoholics Anonymous community, as well as, an usher for 5:45 pm Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Tom was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Tom's candor and empathy for the struggles of the common man will be missed by his family and friends.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Esther (Benson) Horrigan; daughters, Dawn, Bridget, and Mary; sons, Timothy, Patrick and Kevin; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and his brother, John Horrigan of Burlington, MA; numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude and brothers, James "Leo", Edward, and Phillip.
Mr. Horrigan is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, December 28 at 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Father James Shaver as the Celebrant. Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 27 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM.
