Armstrong, Thomas J. "Tom"
Of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2023 surrounded by his family at the age of 64. He was born February 8, 1959, in Jackson, Michigan.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, Meredith and Marilyn (McDonough) Armstrong; his father-in-law, Roger Youngs; and his sister, Guinevere Armstrong. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Joanne; children, Amber Armstrong and John "Jack" (Crystal) Armstrong; siblings, Tim Armstrong, Debbie (Phil) Furnas, Julie (Mike) Williams, and Terry (Lara) Armstrong; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tom worked as a truck driver for Airgas/Nichols for 20 years before retiring in 2017. Tom was a 1977 Jackson High School graduate, where he was a proud drumline member of the Jackson High Band. Tom and Joanne were married in 1988 and have two wonderful children. Tom's biggest priority in life was spending time with his wife in kids. He was also a huge sports fan having had season tickets to the Michigan State Spartans and a lifelong Lions Fan. Tom enjoyed camping with friends and family, fishing and boating on Michigan Center Lake and spending time with the people who mattered the most to him. Tom was the calm comfort of our family and the voice of reason.
A special thank you to John Fatchett II for all the support and care over the years and to all the friends and family that have surround our family to offer their love and support.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Desnoyer Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 12:50 PM followed by a Procession to St. John Catholic Cemetery for a Graveside Service at 1:00 PM with Father Robert Pienta officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Tom's family for burial expenses.
