HEMRY, TERRY JEAN
age 68, went home to join the Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2011 with his family at his side. Terry is survived by his loving wife, Judith, of 40 years and their four children Martin Hemry, Kellie (Tony) Baker, Stacy (Ron) Gould, and Christine Hemry; six grandchildren, Andrew and Chelsea Hemry, Tyler and Ellie Schiller, and Karlie and Ryan Gould; and three step-grandchildren, Keygan, Devin and Cheyenne Baker. Also surviving are his twin brother Larry, his sisters Jane Gibbs, Evelyn ( Bud) Minder, Eileen (Bill) Stuard and Kathy (Ernie) West, brother-in-law Richard (DiAnne)Fischer and many nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Helen Hemry and his brother David Hemry. After graduating from Vandercook Lake High School in 1962, Terry joined the United States Marine Corps. He served in the 1st Marine Division and in the Vietnam War. Terry retired from USF Holland after ten years of service and began volunteering his time to various community organizations. Terry was currently President of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 109 of Jackson, MI where he established amazing bonds of friendship with many. The love and devotion both to and from the members of the VVA is unmatched. Terry recently celebrated his 35th year of membership with the Marine Corps League Cascade Detachment. He was a Past Commandant of the Marine Corps League and a former Quartermaster of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1155. Terry also gave of his time and talents as a member of the Teamster's Retirees Club, and was a strong supporter of Relay for Life.

A celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, November 3 at Cornerstone Christian Church, 2395 W. High St. Jackson, MI at 1:00 PM with Pastor Michael Mason officiating. Graveside interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors.

Family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Terry's Relay for Life team, Tyler's Eagle Scout Project to honor his grandpa or the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 109 of Jackson, MI. Contributions may be made at the funeral home or at any Citizen's Bank branch.
