Sawicki, Steven Lee
Age 73, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 after an 8 year battle with Prostate Cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Deborah; children, Steven David (Amy) Sawicki and Andrea (Tony) Moore; his wife's children whom he also raised as his own, Kelly (Levi) Whitney, Steven (Becky) Omans, Amanda (Bruce) Omans, and Rebecca (Blake) Rogers; 25 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marsha (Randy) Matthews and Christine Clark. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sawicki; mother, Laura Jean Bevier; stepfather, Louis Bevier; granddaughter, Jordan Fisher; and good friend firefighter Ernie Davidson.
Steve went to work after High School as a firefighter for Leoni Township. He also drove a delivery truck for Vernors and became a Master Electrician. Steve helped his stepdad build houses on his days off. He was involved in Leoni Township as a building inspector for five years and a Trustee for Leoni for 12 years. For the past year and a half, Steve was on the Zoning Board of Appeals for Leoni. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with his family, heading south for the winter and going to the casino. Steve was proud and excited to watch is grandson, Steven Taylor Sawicki, play football for Clemson University and never failed to tell people about it. He would help his neighbors, family, and friends with any project. It was said if Steve couldn't figure out how to fix something then it couldn't be fixed. He always met someone he knew no matter where he traveled.
