Lefere, Sophie

of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the age of 85 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert V. Lefere. She is survived by seven children; Timothy Lefere, Debra (James) Roberts, Lorrie Lefere, Christopher (Anne) Lefere, Patricia Hunt, Edward (Patricia) Lefere, Linda (Mike) Koziol; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cecelia Olinyk; sister-in-law, Jean Walczak; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Timothy Hunt; daughter-in-law, Paula Lefere; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Cichon; and five siblings, Betty, Vicki, Martha, Josephine, and Casimer.

Sophie enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and cooking and was proud of her Polish heritage. She worked at Foote Hospital and Doctor's Hospital for many years and was active in respite care.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.

Instead of sending flowers, contributions to Catholic Charities would be appreciated.
