Kuzma, Sophia A.

Of Jackson, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alex; four children, Barbara (William) Foster, Susan (Ronnie) Owens, Joseph (Valerie) Kuzma and John Kuzma; one grandson, Alex Owens; sister-in-law, Margaret Pyciak; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by her sister, Jane Kulas and her brother, Stanley Pyciak.

Music was a big part of Sophia's life; she studied music at Michigan State University, she was a choir member at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and, most recently, a choir member at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church for several years and was a member of the Jackson Chorale. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, worked as a Legal Secretary for the Jackson County Court System for many years and had been a member of the American Business Women's Association.

Sophia is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Reverend Father Mathias Thelen will be the celebrant at the Mass. Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary will be held at 3:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:00 AM.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Cascades Humane Society.
