GOMEZ, SOFIA "Sophie" MANUELA
01/01/1927 – 06/19/2017
passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 19, 2017, with her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Gomez at her bedside at the age of 90 years. She was a homemaker and in 1968 she became a Licensed Foster Parent by The State of Michigan for many years.
Originally from Santurce, Puerto Rico, Sophie resided in Michigan for 62 years. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 61 years, Alfred (Fred) Gomez, her son, Alfred Paul, her sister, Elba DeLombard, her brother, Leo Rodriguez of Puerto Rico, along with her parents.
Surviving are her grandson, Jason (Jenisa) Gomez, great grandchildren, Caprice, Ali, Tayzia, Gabriel, and Parker Gomez.
Sophie enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends and most of all the Big Boy Restaurant.
I want to give special thanks to Donna, Sally, Kalynn and Angela from Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice for being there for us.
Sophie is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Father Tim Nelson as the celebrant.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday, June 23 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 5:00 PM.
