Of Jackson, passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 15, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 73. Survived by her husband of 52 years, George and her four children; Denise (James) Wolcott; Dianna Van Vorst; Mike (Toni) Van Vorst and Pam (Marty Kelly) Petress. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jimmy & Tyler Petress; Nicole Wolcott; Benjamin & Abby Van Vorst. She was preceded in death by her son in law, Jim Petress.

Shirley was an active, life-long member of St. John's Church and retired from the William North Company. Her family was the most important thing in her life.

Mrs. Van Vorst is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a vigil service at 6 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
