McDevitt (Roehm), Shirley Ann
Of Jackson, passed away on August 21, 2023 at the age of 90. Shirley was the 2nd of 4 children born to Elizabeth (Hildebrand) and William Roehm. She was a 1951 graduate of Jackson High School, and worked in the office at Yardman and Fields Department Store. She married the love of her life, Gerald J. McDevitt on April 9, 1952, moved from Jackson to Vandercook Lake in 1960, where they raised their 3 boys. Shirley loved to play cards, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
Shirley, known as Little Grandma Shirley by her grand and great-grand children, loved to help with children, and after hers were grown and out of the house, she was always happy to help with her grandchildren and those of close friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, as well as her parents, father and mother in-law Gerald and Alice McDevitt, her brothers Elmer and Robert, brother in-laws Stanley Karasek, Thomas McDevitt, Jack Arbanas, and William Phillips and sister in-law Kay McDevitt. She is survived by sons Michael (Joan), Joseph (Joyann) and David (Candice), her sister, Rosalie Arbanas, sister in-laws Shirley Phillips, Mary Karasek, and Kathy McDevitt and brother in-law Pat (Phylis) McDevitt, and by her 8 grandchildren, Sarah McDevitt, Pat (Maggie) McDevitt, Lindsay King, Jack (Tayler) McDevitt, Carly McDevitt, Glenn McDevitt, Zachary McDevitt and Allison McDevitt, and six great grandchildren, close family friends Jean Mather and Rhonda Nall, and Rhonda's children Alissa (Brad) Wilson and Blake Medina, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. Rita Catholic Church with Father Tom Helfrich, OSFS officiating.
The family will receive friends at St. Rita Catholic Church on Saturday, August 26 from 11:00 to 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jackson County Library.
