Burns, Shirley Arlene
85, of Jackson, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 18, 2012. Shirley was born June 7, 1927 in Jackson, Michigan. She was the daughter of Charles and Mable Zwick. She is survived by her loving husband, Howard J. Burns and her children, Deb Lyons, Christopher, Ann (Tom) Niebauer, Jack (Bonnie) and daughter-in-law, Suzanne. There are 10 grandchildren and nieces & nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick and her parents & brothers, Duane & Roland Zwick.
She attended Jackson High School, Jackson Community College and then Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church and later St. Rita Parish of Clark Lake. She raised her family on Warren Ave. then later moved to a home on Clark Lake in 1978 that was enjoyed by her children & grandchildren. She loved walks, sewing, raft rides, spoiling her grand kids & cooking meals for her family.
Mrs. Burns is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Interment St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Father Bernard Reilly will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Contributions to the Allegiance Hospice Home or Lumen Christi High School would be appreciated.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Scripture Service Thursday 6:00 PM.
