Dershem (VanDam), Sheila Illene

of Jackson, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 with the loving care of her family and the staff at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home at the age of 57 years. Survived by her son, Ryan (Lindsay) Dershem, her daughter, Olivia Evans; grandchildren, Braiden, Blake, and Bodie; father, Edward Gerald VanDam Sr.; brothers and sisters, Harry (Linda), Daniel, Terrence (Stacey), Joseph (Nancy), Edward Jr. (Kathleen), Kristin (Joseph) Rand, and William; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia VanDam (Karasek); brother, Eric VanDam; aunts, Evelyn Karasek and Illene Hugel, and uncle, Ted Karasek.

Sheila was most recently employed at the State of Michigan and prior to that the Jackson Citizen Patriot. She was very involved in charity events at work and serving others.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 9 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.
