Sandra S. Maher

Of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the age of 78 years. Survived by one son, David "Bob" (Noreen) Brown; one daughter, Sheri (Ron) Westafer; four grandchildren, Chelsey and Kaitlynn Brown and Jeffrey and Joshua (Jessica) Conarton; one great grandson, Ayden; one sister, Sonya Green; and nephews, Richard, Steven, and David Green. Preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Ronald D. Westafer III.

Sandra was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and Jackson Catholic Charities. She was an active longtime member of the Arbor Grove Congregational Church and a member of Antique Questors. She was a teacher at Jackson Public Schools, where she retired as principal after 34 years. Sandra was a World traveler, going to China, Africa 3 times, Japan, Russia, Italy, Ireland, Spain, New Zealand, Austria, Australia, France, Scotland, England, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Carribean Islands, European River Cruises, and many other destinations.

Sandra is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Friday, October 7 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Roseland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 6 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Arbor Grove Congregational Church or to the American Cancer Society.
