Bullinger, Sally Kay
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sally Kay Bullinger announce her passing on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Sally entered eternal life after a long valiant struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Sally was born on September 1, 1936 in Scottville, MI, to Stuart and Rhoda Camer on and was the oldest of three children. They moved to Battle Creek in 1941 when her father took a job at Fort Custer as a military truck mechanic during World War II. They relocated to Jackson when the war ended.
Sally graduated from St. John High School, class of 1954 and then from Mercy School of Nursing in 1957. She married William James Bullinger Sr. in 1958. She began her nursing career at Mercy Hospital, Jackson and then St. Michael's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI where Bill attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. Sally found her true calling serving Community Mental Health clients, where she used her gifts of compassion and empathy to provide hope to those in despair.
Sally and Bill feel blessed to have shared a remarkable life which included joyful gatherings of family and lifelong friends and the treasured friendships formed during the many winters spent at their Florida home.
A gentle, soft spoken woman of great faith and selflessness, she raised seven children, leading by Christian example, always humble and kind.
Sally will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 58 years, William, and her children, Julie (Owen) Ballow, Beverly (Craig) Brass, William Jr. (Lynn), MaryLou Howe, Patrick (Lisa Freund), Michael and Christopher (Jodi); Brother, Stuart Cameron Jr. and Jan Cameron, and sister Penny (Jeff) Haslam. Sally will be held dear by her 18 grandchildren: Andrew, Christian, and Olivia Ballow; Cameron Brass, Jason, Bradley, and Michael Bullinger; Alec, Spencer and Peyton Howe; Brooke, Madeline, and Molly Bullinger; Matthew, Emily and Carley Bullinger; Wyatt and Autumn Bullinger and one great grandson, Korbin. Sally was a member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Father Tim Nelson as the celebrant. A private interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 9 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations in Sally's memory to Alzheimer's organization or Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home.
The family gives a heartfelt thank-you to caretaker Jenny Carlson, The Meadows staff at Countryside and the Staff at Henry Ford Allegiance Health Hospice Home.
May the choirs of Angels welcome you to Paradise, Mom.
