Briggs (Traugh, Daglow), Ruth

Age 99, passed peacefully into eternity on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025. Ruth was born on September 6, 1926, in Breman, ME, to Paul and Marion Traugh, moving to Jackson as a child before graduating from Jackson High School in 1944.  For nearly a century, Ruth prioritized her family, friends, and community. Raising and imparting her wisdom to two loving, caring, and kind daughters.

Ruth gave back as a room mother, Brownie leader, Girl Scout leader, Treasurer, and then President of The King's Daughters, and a very active member of Brookside United Methodist Church.  As the Matriarch of her family and a friend, Ruth was an angelic source of strength, support, encouragement, and healing, and a person whose experience, wisdom, and values should be aspired to.

Her family is left with fond memories of her many stories from childhood spent in Maine and of her Grandparents, whom she loved dearly, as well as stories of her great-grandfather, who served in the Union forces during the Civil War, and her Old English lineage that came over on The Mayflower.  They won't forget the many special trips with her to visit Maine, the fragrant, welcoming smell of her home in Autumn, the way she lit up every room she entered, or her 90th Birthday Party at Round Lake.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Paula Herschelman (Charlie Finkbeiner) and Patricia (Special son-in-law, Dennis) DeCorte. Grandson Russell (Candace) DeCorte, great-grandchildren Victoria, Hannah, Collin (Hannah), and Aiden, as well as step-children, step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sue Ann Daglow, Husband Robert Briggs Sr., Stepson Robert Briggs Jr., and Brother James Traugh.

The family wants to express our sincere gratitude for the compassionate care Ruth received over the years.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place.  A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your preferred charity in Ruth's memory.

We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and kindness in this difficult time.
