Rowene Fischer, 97, died peacefully in her sleep and into the arms of God on November 9, 2025.
Born Mary Margaret Rowene Darith Ring on July 13, 1928 in Minneapolis, the oldest daughter of Paul and Bethel Ring, Rowene moved to Flint shortly thereafter where she grew up, graduating from Flint Northern High School in 1946. Rowene met the love of her life Harold Fischer in 1946. They were married on July 31, 1948 and had one daughter, Becky, in 1951.
The family moved to Jackson in 1967 soon after Harold was promoted by Consumers, where she lived for the last 58 years.
Rowene was extremely active in multiple civic and charitable organizations, including the Friends of Ella Sharp, the Women's Club, the Republican Party and the Marian Circle of Queens Church. Rowene befriended everyone she met with her warm personality and engaging smile.
In retirement she and Harold enjoyed traveling, spending winter months in Florida, golf, visiting family and dining out with multiple friends.
Rowene was preceded in death by Harold, her loving husband of 64 years. She is survived by her daughter Becky (Bill) of Laurel Park, North Carolina, grandsons Will (Sara) of Oklahoma City, Mark (Rachel) of Franklin Tennessee, Jeff (Meghan) of Cottage Grove Minnesota and David (Dani) of Carmel Indiana, 15 great grandchildren, and sister Judi Vandeweghe (Ray) of Alma, Michigan.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Friday, November 14 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning there at 10:00. Father Timothy MacDonald will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church.
