Parzych, Ronald E.

Peacefully left this world at home on Jan. 2nd, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after surviving pancreatic cancer for nearly 6 years. Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy (North) Parzych, his two daughters, Cheryl (David) Sexton and Susan (Robert) Gieswein, five grandchildren, Connor, Emily, and Madeline Sexton, Ryan and Hunter Gieswein, a sister, Virgilene Smith, and numerous family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Frances (Paszkiet) Parzych, a son, Michael J. Parzych, and a sister, Sharon Delphine Strus.

Ron was born on August 31st, 1940 and married his high school sweetheart, Nancy in 1962 following graduation from Michigan State University. They settled and stayed in Jackson most of their lives. Ron retired from Consumers Energy after 35 years. Ron served in the U.S. Army for 8 years. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus serving his parish, Queen of the Miraculous Medal, where he was a longtime member. Ron also served on the Board of Directors for CP Federal Credit Union for 20 years. And was a member of the R.O.M.E.O.'s, a group of longtime friends and golfing buddies. An ideal day for Ron was watching a Spartan football or basketball game with his signature Manhattan in hand, followed by admiring the sunset view on his backyard deck. His ideal week would be traveling with his wife, Nan, and exploring new places both here and abroad. His grandchildren will affectionately remember summer vacations with their "Popie" and his knack for telling silly stories of adventure. For many years Ron could be found on his boat on any lake, bringing home both fish and fish stories. But most importantly, Ron was a loving, dedicated, and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He made friends wherever he went, including the hospital nurses he kept entertained with his dry humor. He will be so very missed but we are at peace knowing that he is with his son, Michael, scouting out the best fishing spots on the other side.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 6 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Father Timothy MacDonald as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at church on Thursday, before the Mass, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

A special thank you to Elara Caring Hospice for their dedicated service.
