Covell, Roger A.

Age 78, of Jackson, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the Henry Ford Jackson Hospital.  Roger was born on April 21, 1947 in Tecumseh, Michigan and graduated from Clinton High School in 1965 where he was an outstanding athlete.  He continued his education at Michigan State with a degree in agriculture.

Roger was a proud United States Army Vietnam Veteran, serving on the Cambodian Laos border as a helicopter traffic controller.  He was employed in quality control at Ford Motor in Saline, retiring after 30 years in 2002. Roger was raised as a farm kid on his family farm in Manchester.  Even though he moved to Jackson in the early 1980's, he continued to be actively involved on the farm his entire life, even up to the day of his passing.  When working for Ford, he would stop daily and spend weekend days checking on his parents, Richard and Eileen Disbrow and tending to other farm responsibilities.  After retirement and his parents passing, Roger assumed the business and operational duties of the 175 year old centennial farm.   Besides farming, Roger had many other interests including the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, MSU football and basketball, farm toy shows, and dalmatian dogs.  He enjoyed the farm in all seasons, especially deer hunting in the fall.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by several cousins and special long time friends, Susan Diebold and Patty Monroe.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at Manchester Cemetery at a later date.
