Hoop, Robert R.
Of Jackson, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the age of 87 years. He was born on June 16, 1932 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Survived by his loving wife, Patricia Anne Hoop whom he married on November 20th, 1954 at St. Mary's Church Grand Forks, North Dakota; five children and their spouses and children, Janelle (Gerald) Honn - Ron, Angel, and Greg; Bill (Roberta) Hoop - Martin and James; Pam (Greg) Noethen - Jennifer, Dave (Deceased), and Bonni; Richard (Lori) Hoop - Megan, Alex, Allison, Matthew, and Sarah; Bob (Jennifer) Hoop - Robert Jr, Kyle, Teddy, and Alizabeth; and seventeen great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Dewey and Amy Cady; brother, James Hoop; and grandson, David Heckaman.
Bob was a United States Army Veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He graduated with an Engineering Degree from University of North Dakota. He was a resident of Jackson, Michigan for years and a founding member of engineering firm Commonwealth Associates. Bob traveled the world designing electric power transmission lines for utilities used in all types of environment. He was a local hockey coach into the early 90's and an active member of St John the Evangelist Catholic Church Parish family. Bob enjoyed family time and loved his grandchildren, often referring to them as gifts. He always had a kind word for everyone and never met a stranger that didn't become a friend.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. James Shaver officiating. A private interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at St. John's Church on Friday from 11:00 to 12:00 Noon.
Instead of sending flowers, contributions to St. John's Church would be appreciated.
