Herman, Robert Benedict
Husband, dad, and grandfather peacefully entered into rest at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the age of 75 surrounded by family. He was born October 16, 1943, in Jackson, to Stanley and Grace (Nowaski) Herman. He was a 1962 graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School. Rob married Barbara Root on July 22, 1967, in Sturgis. He worked as an electrician at Camshaft Machine Company, Monarch Electric, and B & H Electric. Some of Rob's biggest enjoyments were gardening, watching NASCAR races and NCIS, traveling to Gatlinburg with his wife, and watching his grandkids sporting events. He is survived and missed by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; his mother-in-law, Elva Root; a sister, Janet McAuliffe; and a brother, Fred (Linda) Herman. Loved by his children: Karla (Greg) Kughn and Denise (Kevin) Hahn. Grandchildren: Jacob, Jared, and Emily Kughn, Grace and Madison Hahn: and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Herman; mother, Grace (Nowaski) Herman; his sister, Gloria Ross; and his brother, Leon Herman.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Rob touched are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 10516 Hayes Road, Clarklake with Fr. Thomas Helfrich, O.S.F.S. officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church prior to the Mass from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Church's Columbarium.
Rob was a very hard working individual that never kept still. He deeply loved and was extremely devoted to his family. He will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Rita's Catholic Church or the Robert Herman Memorial at Jackson Area Career Center, 6800 Browns Lake Road, Jackson, Michigan, 49201 would be appreciated.
