Gamble, Robert C.
Of Jackson passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; sons, Richard D. Gamble of Richland, WA and Douglas R. (Susanne) Gamble of Peoria, AZ; daugther, Lynda K. (Mark) Little of Horton, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer Gamble (AZ), Derek Gamble (NV), Hannah Gamble (AZ), Sam Gamble (AZ), and Jacob Gamble (AZ). Preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Geogia; sisters Margaret Smith and Doris McNickle; and brother in law Duane Ernst.
Bob graduated from Jackson High School in 1952. Bob married Betty in 1954. He worked for New York Central Railroad as a fireman for a few months and decided that wasn't the life for him. He then worked at Consumers for 38 years, retiring in 1989 as a computer analyst. Bob worked at Consumers where he began using computers when they took up a whole room to present pc's and laptops. He traveled around the State teaching the use of computers to numerous people in the other Consumers offices. Bob had a very difficult time for the last 10 years, facing many challenging health issues. He was cared for by his wife for the past 8 years 24/7.
A special thanks to the Pastors of Trinity Lutheran Church, Michael Hanson and Eric Ekong; Gordon Haughlie for his many visits; special friends, Dee and Bob Liechte; Joan and Richard Gale for their calls and prayers and words of encouragement; and Dr. Larry Jennings for his care and support. Also to the neighbors, Rex and Michelle London and Jim Swager who are always there to help in countless ways.
According to his wishes, Mr. Gamble has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 122 West Wesley Street, on Friday, October 31 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Michael Hanson and Pastor Eric Ekong officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or Cascades Humane Society would be appreciated.
