Robert (Bob) and Rita Eagle were an inseparable, loving couple, who enjoyed 70 years of marriage and devotion to each other. This week, the Lord called them both to join Him in heaven. Bob and Rita both died at home, surrounded by their loving and compassionate family, and caring support of Great Lakes Hospice. Bob passed away on December 29th and Rita passed away on January 2nd.
Bob was born on April 18, 1920 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Bob served in the US Army during World War II. Upon returning from the war, Bob married Rita Clara Dunigan, in St. Mary's Church on July 23st 1945. Bob was employed by John Crowley Boiler Works for over 37 years, retiring in 1983.
Rita was born on September 20, 1920, in Hudson, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Clara Dunigan. She was long time employee of Jackson Public School System. Bob and Rita were devoted to their family and raised 6 children.
Rita leaves her sister, Marjorie Raciboski of Jackson, Mi,. and Bob is remembered by his sister, Patricia Heuer, Ft. Mohave, Az.
Left to cherish their memory are their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sue Kenny (Ed) of Des Moines, Ia., Mary Beth Eagle, Ann Arbor, Mi., and Catherine Eagle (Myron Kebus) of Madison, Wi., and sons Michael Eagle, Jackson, Mi. and Robert Eagle (Elaine), Somerset, Mi. 11 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Bob and Rita were preceded in death by their son, Patrick Smythe Eagle (Helene) of Madison, WI.
According to their wishes Bob and Rita have been cremated. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Oratory on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Father Chas Canoy officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday, January 16th from Noon to 1:00 PM
Rather than flowers, the family requests acts of kindness in Bob and Rita's memory. Contributions can be made to St. Joseph's Oratory, the Great Lakes Hospice Foundation, or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Bob and Rita will be greatly missed. They will always be remembered by their family and friends as a couple who embraced life, through laughter, giving and kindness to everyone. The family is extremely grateful to Debbie Garner, their long time caregiver and companion.
