Woltmann, Richard William
Born on November 9, 1932 and passed on Sunday, February 25, 2024 in the presence of his family. Richard was born to Josephine and Jack Woltmann in Gladwin, Michigan. On February 2, 1957 he married Mary Helen (Brzezinski) Woltmann and she preceded him in death on September 14, 2007. Richard is survived by his four children, Timothy of Rives Junction, Elaine (Dan) Mandreger of Jackson, Steven of Kissimmee, FL, David (Mickie Ziegler) of Jackson and her children Shelby and Andrew, special companion, friend and dance partner Jo LaFollette of Jackson, one sister, Betty Jones of Essexville, trusted caregiver and friend, Penny Turner along with several nieces and nephews. Besides Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack and daughter in law Susan Woltmann.
Richard worked as a tool and die maker for Walker Manufacturing until they moved out of state. He continued to work until he retired from Hoover Universal. For many years, Richard enjoyed playing bingo every Wednesday evening at the PLAV (always hoping to hit the big one). Similarly, he went to Roosters for breakfast every morning at 7:05 A.M. for years and was always greeted with a hot cup of black coffee. He loved to travel and had many memorable adventures around the country with Jo and the Jackson Trippers. His favorite trip was in Alaska for 3 weeks with Jo. Richard loved to dance and there is not a polka he missed dancing or singing too. In later times when he couldn't dance any more, he would sit tapping his feet to the beat of the music. Richard and Jo spent every day together whether enjoying her homemade cooking, going out for dinner, bingo, traveling, shopping, playing skipbo, TV or just sitting together holding hands. Richard enjoyed going fishing and hunting with Timothy and David. He was also a champion skeet shooter.
Mr. Woltmann is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, February 29 at 10:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Robert Pienta officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 28 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 South Rochester Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307 would be appreciated.
