Van Schoick, Dr. Richard Markham
Of Horton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, under the loving care of his family and Allegiance Hospice age 84 years. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sally and his children; Dr. Timothy (Cindy) Van Schoick, Tad (Karen) Van Schoick, Debbie (Steve) Haight, Mike (Amanda) Watkins, Kevin (Amy) Watkins; 16 grandchildren, Christopher (Erin) Van Schoick, Lauren Van Schoick, Dr. Allison (Riley) Haight, Andrew (Lindsey) Haight, Austin Haight, Michael Van Schoick, Justin Van Schoick, Tyler Van Schoick, Ryan Watkins, Zach Watkins, Shawn Watkins, David Rice, Zachary Rice, Brooklynne Watkins, Emily Watkins and Olivianna Watkins, sisters in law Betty Jo Van Schoick, Sue (George) Mitchell and brothers in law Andy (Carolie) Noyes and Bob (Kris) Conden, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank Van Schoick and Pauline Van Schoick; siblings, Frank Van Schoick, Polly Noyes, and Ann Langton.
Richard graduated from Jackson High School, graduate of the University of Michigan Undergrad and Medical School, completed his internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and residency at the University of Michigan Hospital. He retired after 33 years of service. He belonged to the American Academy of Pediatrics, was a member of the Michigan State Medical Society, Chief of Pediatrics for Foote Hospital, on the Board of Trustees for Foote Hospital, former Medical Director for Jackson County ISD, Jackson Country Club Board Member, Cascade Insurance Board Member and the Medical Director of MCARE of Jackson County. He was an avid Michigan fan and enjoyed many things including woodworking, golfing, and skiing, but most of all traveling in his RV with his loving wife.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will be held at
Desnoyer Funeral Home on Saturday June 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Sarah Hurlbert will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
