SCHNEIDER, DR. RICHARD H.
Of Jackson passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 83 years of age. Survived by his three children; Richard (Ava Nakamoto) Schneider, Cynthia (John) Nixon and Carol Schneider, and his grandchildren Elizabeth and Jack Nixon. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Margaret, and his sister Nancy. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan Medical School with honors in 1952. Richard served in the US Navy as a Medical Officer prior to his residency at the University of Michigan in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Schneider began his practice in Jackson in 1960 and retired after 41 years of service. As a doctor he always had his patients' best interests at heart, touching many lives as a doctor, friend and role model. During his retirement he enjoyed watching sports and caring for his home, yard and beloved pets. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 743 W. Michigan Ave. Cremation to follow the Funeral Service.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and at the First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the Cascades Humane Society.
