Of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018, age 92. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard H. and Clara (Swidensky) Sayers; and sister, Helen Ciolek of Lansing. Richard is survived by his wife of 68 years Joan (Carter); son David of Clarklake, MI; daughter Ann of Tallahassee, FL; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Mary Anne (Johnson); son and daughter-in-law Steve and Vonni (Spencer) of Parma, MI; grand-daughters Emily (Steve) Gray, Lauren (Jeremy Phillips), Helen and Anna Sayers; grand-sons David Samuel (Tamara) Sayers, Phillip (Heather Hawkins), Curt, and Adam (Katlyn) Sayers; four great grand-daughters Abigail, Skyler, Josie and Clara June and four great grand-sons Ezekiel, Elijah, Micah and Lincoln.

Richard graduated Jackson High School in 1944, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an Electronic Technicians Mate, graduated Michigan State College in 1950 with a BS in Electronic Engineering, and was employed by Gilbert/Commonwealth Inc. for 37 years as a registered Professional Engineer in the Fossil Fuel Engineering Department.  He was a member of the Lumen Christi Titan Club for several years and president for two years.  His favorite retirement enjoyment was recreation trailering travel in the U.S. with his wife. They were snowbirds in Lady Lake, Florida for a decade.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Legion, a charity of your choice, or St. John the Evangelist Church.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 711 N. Francis Street, Jackson, Michigan at 10:00 AM with Fr. James Shaver officiating.  Visitation with the family begins at 9:00 AM.
