Richard Arthur Rice

Richard Arthur Rice of Jackson, age 78, passed away on February 15, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Rick was born on February 8, 1948, to Charles and Dorothy Rice. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda, and by his parents, in-laws Josey and Barbara Bany, and his brother-in-law, Bill Hughes. He is survived by his sons, Rick (Amy) and Todd (Wendi); granddaughter KayLynn; and grandsons Hayden, Charles, Griffinn, and Henry. 

Rick is also survived by brothers Ed and David (Penny), brother-in-law Tim (Janet) Bany, sister-in-law Diane Hughes, and many nieces and nephews. Rick was a Vietnam Army veteran (1967-1970) and retired from Industrial Steel Heat Treating. He loved playing golf, especially with his friend Rick Corbin.

The family invites friends and family of Rick and Linda to the Richard F. Smith Post 29, 3200 Lansing Avenue, Jackson, MI, 49202, on Saturday, March 14, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., to celebrate their lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in honor of Rick to the Richard F Smith Post 29 to support the Boys State Program or the American Legion Youth Baseball Program.
