McGuire, Richard H. (Grandpa Dick)
passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the age of 76 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Susan and survived by his brothers, David and Robert, his children, Kenneth and Jennifer, and his grandchildren, Johnathan, Elizabeth, Susannah, and Sarah.
Dick was born in Indianapolis on April 7, 1939 and moved to Jackson in 1980. He graduated from Purdue with a degree in Technical Writing, and spent much of his career doing this in the Communications industry. In addition he was a professional English Horn player in New Orleans and San Antonio. He was an active amateur "ham" radio operator, serving our state at the State EOC, serving our community as contact examiner for licensing, as well as being an active member of many area radio clubs. In addition he had served on church boards at St. James Lutheran and First Baptist Church here in Jackson. In his retirement he picked up Roller Skating and Zumba, and was an eager participant.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Eric Ekong officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday, October 26 from 2–4 and 6–8 PM. They will also receive friends at Trinity Lutheran Church, before the service on Tuesday, from 10:15–10:45 AM.
Memorials may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or National Parkinson Foundation.
