He is survived by his wife, Julianne Langley; his daughters, Zoe Marie and Sydney Joy and their mother, Sandy; Julianne's children, Morgan and Sean Hnilicka, Coley, Mallory and Mackenna Crowley; his loving parents, Dick and Sally Langley; brothers, Chris and wife Kelly and Peter and wife Teri; nephews and nieces Joshua Langley, Madelyn, Delton and Grace Langley; mother-in-law, Carol Sambaer; brother-in-law, James (Mary Lou Bullinger-Howe) Sambaer; sister-in-law, Lori (Todd) Howe; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends. Rich was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Marie Oberheim and Joe and Marie Langley; his nephew, Benjamin Langley; and his father-in-law, Thomas Sambaer.
Rich attended Northern Michigan University where he played football and gained many life long friendships.
He was a devoted and well respected Corrections Officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections for the past 25 years. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan and spent the last 10 plus years ushering home games and other events at Notre Dame Stadium.
To know him was to love him. He never met a stranger, always engaging in conversation and making people laugh with his quick wit. His smile was contagious and his presence would light up a room. He is going to be sorely missed by his family and friends.
