Kulas, Richard Stanley
Polka Hall of Famer of Parma, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann; their son, Patrick Michael; grandson, Joseph Hinkle; and brother and sisters. He is survived by his children, Shawn Kulas, Peter (Maryann) Kulas, Laura Kulas, Angie (Ron) Cochran, and Lisa (Garry) Garner; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Kulas; one sister, Stella Romanowski; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was an Army Veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He retired from Consumers Power. He played in many bands, including the Dixeland and Old Timers Polka Band. Richard enjoyed playing his music and spending time with his family. He touched many lives.
Mr. Kulas is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Friday, October 26 at 1:00 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. James Shaver officiating. Interment to follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 25 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM. Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Chalice Service will follow the Rosary Service.
