of Jackson passed away under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Allegiance Hospice Home on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the age of 55 years. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Martie; mother, Lillian Johns; sisters and brother, Diane (Ed) Schweda, Connie (Travis) Turner, Cindy (Dan) Storm, and Dennis (Kathy) Johns; father-in-law, Russell Peterson Sr.; brother-in-laws, Joel (Nancy) Peterson and Russell (Cathy) Peterson; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and great grand nieces who all adored "Uncle Wick." Preceded in death by his father, Dennis L. Johns and his infant sister, Doreen.

Richard was the Jackson Citizen of the year in 1998. He was employed by the Department of Corrections for 18 years, former Jackson City Commissioner, and was currently serving as Blackman Township Trustee. Rick also owned and operated Aunt Martha Cheesecake Company and was an active member of the Jackson Community. He enjoyed many activities with all of his buddies. Rick also donated his blood to the American Red Cross for many years.

Mr. Johns is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Thursday, August 21, at 10:00 AM with Fr. Tim Nelson officiating. Private interment will take place at Peterson Burying Ground in Brooklyn.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at St. Mary's on Thursday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Allegiance Hospice Home or the John George Home would be appreciated.
