Dula, Richard James
Sept. 1, 1934 to October 11, 2018
Dick hit his third hole in one on October 11 by going to be with the Lord after a brief battle with cancer.
His wife of 62 years, Mary Janice, children Diana (Tony) Beveridge, Kathy (Steve) Hoszkiw, Mitch (Lisa) Dula, Kelly (Pat) Horsch, Chris (Mike) Dickerson, grandchildren Dustin, Paige, Brittney (Eric), Brandon, Tyler, Ryan, Parker, and Riley are among the loved ones who will mourn his loss.
His journey began on a farm in Chesaning, Michigan, the eldest child of Frank and Cecilia (Krivick) Dula. He is survived by his sister Shirlene (Sue) Bila, preceded in death by his brother Jim Dula. Loved by many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and golf buddies.
As a youth, his love for music led to forming Dick's Polka Band with his sister Sue and friends. Dick served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He loved to meet people and made everyone feel special which led to a successful career in sales. His passion for travel took him on many vacations throughout North America, Europe and China. When he was not traveling or golfing he was offering a helping hand; hunting; or building model ships. His fascination for flying led to obtaining his pilots license, joining a flying club and skydiving on his 80th birthday.
He loved to tell stories, pull pranks, and was always the life of the party. His life was filled with good times, and great memories with loved ones which will be cherished.
The family will receive friends at St. John Catholic Church Parish Center on Friday, October 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 4:00 PM. Father James Shaver will be the Celebrant at the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John's Catholic Church of Jackson.
A special Thank You, to Hospice from Great Lakes Caring.
