Stafford, Richard Lee "Dick"
Of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021, under the care of hospice, surrounded by his children and friend Shirley Clement. Richard was 94 years old. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Doris H. He is survived by his 11 children, Tom (Debbie) Stafford of Stevens Point, WI, Joe (Pam) Stafford of Holland, Mary Ann (Howard) Hyde of Lexington, KY, Rick (Monica) Stafford of Parma, Joan (Bob) Hizny of Johns Creek, GA, Anne Marie (Bob) Niemiec of Zeeland, Patti (James) Kanaby of Colorado Springs, CO, Amy (John) Marcus of Grand Rapids, Jane (Steve) Clement of Brooklyn, Barb (Steve) Dusseau of Fort Wayne, IN, and Theresa (Bill) Cook of Saline; 44 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and brother Larry (Kit) Stafford of Palo Alto, CA.
Richard was a graduate of U of M and served in the Army Air Corp. After retirement from Consumers Power, he volunteered for several years at both Meals on Wheels, and Respite Care. Richard's contagious, positive attitude and laughter touched all that were privileged to know him. One of his predominant characteristics in his later years was listening and encouraging those in the waiting room at his doctor visits. He found great joy in playing cards and bonding with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He instilled godly character and strong work ethic in all his children. The heritage of this good man, with a kind heart and humble demeanor will live on in all those who survive him.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Private interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery. The Funeral Mass with also be livestreamed on Queen's Church Facebook page.
The family will receive friends at Queen's Church on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
