Deraedt, Richard Remi

Passed from this life on Earth on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Richard was born in Jackson, Michigan on November 5, 1939 to Leon and Marie Deraedt. He graduated from St. John's High School in 1957. He worked at Tompkins-Johnson from 1957-1975. He worked at Adtech, Inc from 1975-1995 and worked for Orbitform for 8 years. He happily retired in 2003. Richard proudly served his Country in the United States Army and Reserves from 1962-1968. He worked part-time at Ella Sharp Golf Course from 2004-2019. Richard enjoyed golfing with his friends, working in his yard, and in his later years spending time at the casino. He spent many winters with his wife Karen in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Richard is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen; daughters, Remi Deraedt (Matt Scharf), Denise Harrington (Michael), Lance Lamm, Lisa Morey (Jeff), and Kristine Rusch (Zack). He enjoyed spending time with his 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Abigail, Emily, Danielle, Jacob, Kali, Salem, Adley, Greer, and Ryker and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Richard is also survived by his sister, Ann Curtiss and brother-in-law, Al Curtiss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Marie; first wife, Joanne Deraedt; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Jim Kaplinski.

Richard was a loving husband, great father, and good friend.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 27 at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 27 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Parkinson Foundation or the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home.
