Csage, Raymond

Of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the early hours of August 7th, 2020 after experiencing weeks of declining health. He had just turned 87.

Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years, Florence, and his three children Sue (Bob) VanCamp, Mary (Dave Gould) Csage, and Steve (Kim) Csage along with his five grandchildren EJ (Michael McComiskey) Baker, Camille (Kevin) Sleboda, Stephanie (Will Hayslett) Baker, Alex (Pam) VanCamp, and Drake Csage.

Ray was born on August 6th, 1933 in Chicago to Edith and Killian Csage, who have preceded him in death as well as his brother Bob Csage and sister Ethel Sansone. He served in the United States Air Force between 1950-1954 and after his discharge went back to Chicago. In 1962, he went on a trip to Jamaica where he met his wife, Florence. After they wed on February 23rd, 1963, they set down roots in Jackson in 1966. Ray worked as a computer programmer at Foote Hospital for 25 years.

A true family man, Ray always did what was best for the greater good of everyone else. He had a true "go with the flow" personality and was nothing but a joyous, sweet soul to be around. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, walking, baseball, bowling and volunteering at the hospital. But most of all he loved just spending time with his grandchildren.

"I'm focused on this beautiful sunrise and I know he is at peace now," his daughter, Mary, noted after his passing. "I feel nothing but peace."

Ray will be buried in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, not far from the home he had with Florence for over 50 years. A private Mass of the Christian Burial with immediate family only will be held Monday, August 10th at 10:00am with a livestream available at www.queenschurch.com .

The family would like to thank the staff at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home for their loving care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Lingap Children's Foundation, PO Box 1553, Jackson, MI 49204 or www.lingapcenter.org or Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home.
