COLLARD, RAYMOND WILLIAM

Of Jackson passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011. He is survived by eight children, Theresa (Randy) Siegrist, Michael, Jeannine (Rick) Markiewicz, Timothy, Jennifer (Nelson) Thornsbury, Shawn (Gilbert) Ramariez, Dawn Bennett, Missy (Scotty) Killgrove; 21 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Garges; one brother, Thomas (Rita) Collard; and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Estella and Joseph Frenzel and Robert Collard; three brothers Robert, his twin, Richard and Daniel; and two sisters, Anita (Garner) and Mary (Kinch); Ray served in the United States Army. He was retired from Aeroquip after many years of service. He was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus, and recently a resident of Ganton's Countryside Community where he was well liked and enjoyed bringing laughter to many there, including the staff. Ray enjoyed many hobbies which included coin collecting, model airplane building, and practical joking. He was a skilled story and joke teller from many years of practice. He made unusual kites and recently began painting. His hobbies were all used to bring joy to others. Ray will be remember as a kind and compassionate man who loved his family, friends and animals including many feral cats, raccoons, squirrels, birds - including a flock of crows known to follow him on his walks, one opossum, and even a skunk. Mr. Collard is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held Friday 12:30 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church 1:00 PM. Interment St. John's Cemetery. The Rev. Cecilio Reyna officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Rosary Thursday 7 PM.
