Green, Ralph F.

Ralph passed away on October 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer, age 78. He was born on August 21, 1937 in Traverse City, Michigan the son of Ralph W. and Helen C. (Barr) Green. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sandra (Rokos); their children: Laura Green and Kathy Yhip of San Clemente, CA, Kevin (Kay) Green of Maplewood, MN, Lisa (Howard) Kutsch of Howell, MI and Kathy (Kevin) Cox of Grand Rapids, MI. He was a very proud grandfather of Kaitlin, Daniel, Taylor (Josh), Eric, Elissa, Nikole, Karlin and Hannah. He is also survived by his sisters Karen (Norman) Buchan and Marilyn Davis, both of Traverse City as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ralph was a graduate of Traverse City Central High School and received his Master's Degree from Michigan State University. Ralph worked in Environmental Engineering/Planning for The Tennessee Valley Authority, Stone & Webster and Consumers Power Company where he retired in 1991. He was a loving husband, supportive father and devoted grandfather, attending countless games, concerts, theatre productions and all events that involved the family and his grandchildren whom he loved so much.

Ralph was a former Explorer Scout leader, a past member and officer of Hanover/Horton Lions Club and an avid golfer. He was a 'Lifetime Member' of the Bad Golfers Association (we have the card to prove it.) He enjoyed reading and was a history buff concentrating on American Indians and anything relating to World War II. He was also an expert at puzzles as well as a great card player.

Ralph was a proud American and always wore his American flag lapel pin. He was also a generous American Red Cross blood donor, having donated over 10 gallons during his life. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor which he maintained throughout his battle. Ralph was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Church in Concord, MI.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive family and friends at Desnoyer Funeral home in Jackson, MI. on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, with a Rosary Service taking place at 7:30 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 16, at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Concord at 11:00 AM, with Father Denis Spitzley, Father Lew Eberhart, and Deacon Carol Franssen officiating.
