Wheeler, Phyllis M.

Age 100, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 26th. Phyllis was born April 19, 1923, in Bunker Hill, MI to James and Beatrice (Worden) Quinn. She grew up in Bunker Hill and moved to Jackson at age 16 where she began working at Spartan Electronics and then moved on to Mechanical Products. Phyllis loved to work and enjoyed the comradery of her co-workers.

Phyllis was a devoted parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jackson. She was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge and never missed a Clark Equipment Retirement Luncheon. Phyllis spent many hours volunteering at the Salvation Army well into her late 80's. She enjoyed her exercise classes at the Boos Recreation Center and mingling with friends at the potluck after. She loved people and when not at home was often found driving friends to and from appointments. Phyllis looked forward to and attended all family functions! Phyllis loved to dance and did so at her 100th Birthday celebration attended by many. Phyllis definitely had a fear of missing out. (FOMO!)

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband's Russell VanEpps and Meryl J. Wheeler; her parents James and Beatrice Quinn; siblings Evelyn Miller, Gladys Moeckel, Betty Evans, Beverly O'Berry, Lorene Brown, Howard Quinn and Gerald Quinn; son-in-law Arnie Hobbs.

Surviving are her two children Jim (Brenda) VanEpps and Linda Hobbs; four grandchildren Todd (Sue) VanEpps, Meghan (Bill) Sharp, Arnie Hobbs II, Jason (Lara) Hobbs; one great granddaughter Rachael (Stephen) Neil; one brother Gordon Quinn; one sister-in-law Donna Donner; one stepdaughter Julie Garrison; many nieces and nephews; and so many friends.

The family of Phyllis would like to thank the entire staff at Jackson's Mission Pointe, who went above and beyond in caring for Phyllis and made Mission Pointe her home.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in memory of Phyllis.
