Harris, Phyllis B.
Born Phyllis B. Glinicki, on July 1, 1914, daughter of Frank Glinicki and Florence Majkowski, both from Poland, passed away at Arbor Woods Living Center on Saturday, January 2, 2016. She was 101.
She is survived by four children: Joy Idzkowski (Joe) of Jackson, Phil Simmons (Nancy) of The Villages, Florida, Diane Beck (Charlie) of Charleston, South Carolina, and Leonard Draper of New Braunfels, Texas. She is survived by 11 grandchildren: Tom Idzkowski, Mike Idzkowski, Joseph Idzkowski, Carole Reseguie, Linda Emberton, Meri Sharon Chapman, Chris Simmons, Julie Simmons, Laurie Simmons, Joshua Draper, Lance Draper, and three generations of great grandchildren. Oldest of 5 daughters, she is also survived by two sisters, Fran Burdick and Florence Larrowe, both of Jackson.
She is predeceased by a son, Donald F. Simmons and a grand-daughter, Ann Marie Klinko, along with her husband George Harris. Phyllis was one of the early members of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Michigan Center and a current member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Phyllis was a Mother who always put her children first, always had a smile for her family and friends, made the best Polish sweet bread in the county, and always enjoyed a hot cup of coffee and a Hinkley's donut. She was the family's inspiration and we are blessed she was with us for so long. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, January 7th at 10:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Phyllis' nephew, Bishop Donald F. Hanchon, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Graveside Interment at St. John's Cemetery immediately after. A light lunch at St. John's Parish Center will follow.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 6 PM with a Vigil Service at 4:00 PM.
The family thanks Ganton Assisted Living Center and Southern Care Hospice for all the kindness and care of our Mother these past several years.
