age 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 1, 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Kuras; six grandchildren, Matt (Holly), Carrie (Chris) Conger, Philip, Patrick, Molly and Michael; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special cousins, Virginia Griffin, Janene (Jim) Henley and Irene Dzal; and many much loved friends.
Phyllis was born on March 5, 1925, to William and Florence (Heiler) Beaghan. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1943, and soon after found her true calling as a registered nurse. Nursing was one of Phyllis's great joys in life and she was truly gifted as one.
Phyllis was married on February 3, 1951 to Philip A. Dolan. They were truly a match made in Heaven. Phyllis took devoted care of Phil after he contracted polio in 1952 until his death in 1968. Together they operated the Physicians Registry, an answering service. After Phil's death, Phyllis returned to nursing until her retirement in 1991 from W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital.
Phyllis was a remarkable example of loving your neighbor. Her thoughtfulness and kindness enriched the lives of many people, and earned her the 1991 Rotary Club Outstanding Citizen of Jackson County Award as well as a Jackson Citizen Patriot Finalist award for Citizen of the year in 1990. She enjoyed being a Eucharistic Minister at her beloved Queen of the Miraculous Medal Parish and especially enjoyed taking the Blessed Sacrament to shut-ins.
Besides her husband Phil, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Theresa, sister, Barbara and son-in-law, Michael Kuras.
Phyllis was a wonderful wife and mother, and a fun-loving and devoted grandma. Our lives have been so very enriched by her love, and life will never be the same without her.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 6, at 11:30 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Fr. John Whitlock as the celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church, prior to the Mass, from 10:30 until 11:30 AM.
Our family is grateful for the assistance of the Henry Ford Allegiance Hematology-Oncology. Her visits there were always uplifting, despite her illness. We are also thankful for the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice who helped Phyllis as she ended her earthly journey. The family suggests that, instead of sending flowers, please consider a memorial donations to either of them or to Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic School.
