Bungart, (Lienhart), Phyllis M.
Phyllis fought a courageous battle with cancer and went home to be with her Lord on January 7, 2010. She was born May 3, 1929 in Jackson, Michigan to Ben and Mildred (Wolfe) Smith and lived her whole life in the Jackson area. She graduated from East Jackson H.S. in 1946. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband James Lienhart (1969), her husband Elwin (Van) VanAntwerp (1986), her son Dan Lienhart (1981), her sister Leta Jackson and brother Philip Smith.
She is survived by her husband Louis Bungart, six children: Becky (Dick) Crites of Mattawan, MI, Steve (Eileen) Lienhart of Jackson, Ted (Cathy) Lienhart of VA, Beth (Dan) Truman of MT, Laura (Mark) Wolski of Jackson, Carl (Tanya) Lienhart of Jackson, fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and step family members.
Phyllis was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where she had been a Eucharistic minister for many years. She was also a member of the Jackson County Genealogical Society, the Stockbridge Stompers Square Dance Club and the Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild.
She delivered Meals for the Jackson County Meal Service for many years.
Phyllis loved to travel and was fortunate to have visited many foreign countries and much of the U.S. She loved to sew and loved flowers as she grew so many in her gorgeous yard.
Mrs. Bungart is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held Monday, January 11, 2010 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 10:30 AM. Interment Sts. Cornelius & Cyprian Cemetery, Bunker Hill 2:00 PM. The Rev. James Shaver officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., Allegiance Hospice or a charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 8 PM. Rosary Sunday evening 7 PM.
